Gender Equality Index

Gender equality has been a core value of Publicis Groupe since its inception. Respect for every individual is a fundamental component of our corporate culture, embodied in our signature “Viva la Différence,” which recognizes and values individual uniqueness as a strength.

The Group is strongly committed to inclusion, gender balance, and diversity. This commitment is reflected in corporate initiatives such as signing the 7 Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) established by UN Women, and actively participating in the Unstereotype Alliance alongside UN Women, bringing together around twenty global companies to combat stereotypes in advertising and communications.

Gender equality must be tangible and requires constant vigilance. It must be upheld at every level of the organization: from recruitment, to promotions and career development, and to compensation. Current indicators show that there is still room for improvement.

In accordance with the provisions of the French “Avenir Professionnel” law of September 5, 2018, Publicis France agencies with at least 50 employees have established their Gender Equality Index.

The criteria used to calculate the Index are as follows:

Indicator 1: Gender pay gap between women and men
Indicator 2*: Gap in individual salary increase rates between women and men
Indicator 3*: Gap in promotion rates between women and men
Indicator 4: Percentage of female employees who received a pay increase upon returning from maternity leave
Indicator 5: Number of employees of the underrepresented gender among the 10 highest-paid employees

* In companies with fewer than 250 employees, Indicators 2 and 3 are combined. Individual salary increases, including those resulting from promotions, are therefore taken into account.

To calculate the company’s Index, an external consulting firm was engaged to collect all relevant data and ensure the accuracy and reliability of the results.

The members of the Executive Committee of Prodigious France have decided to monitor the evolution of this Index on a quarterly basis and to strengthen training for managers on unconscious bias.

Beyond the annual snapshot of these indicators and the mandatory publication of the Index for eligible companies, the Group is committed to continuously improving its initiatives in pursuit of social progress and enhanced gender equality.

Publicis Groupe firmly believes that professional and pay equity is a driver of collective enrichment and sustainable performance, and a key pillar of its social policy.

The Group also aims to raise awareness among employees and managers about other equally important issues that contribute to gender equality in the workplace, including work-life balance and the prevention of sexual harassment and sexist behavior.
